ANDS, Nectar and RDS to publish joint e-newsletter and Twitter feed

11 December 2017

As a next step in the integration of the ANDS, Nectar and RDS partnership, the three NCRIS projects will be combining some public communications channels into single accounts.

1. A new, joint e-newsletter

Currently, ANDS, Nectar and RDS each publish their own e-newsletters on a regular basis. From January 2018, the three newsletters will be combined into a single, fortnightly newsletter.

Impact on current subscribers

None/minimal. All current subscribers to ANDS, Nectar and RDS e-newsletters will receive the new e-newsletter from 2018 without having to take any further action. Readers will have the option to stop receiving the joint newsletter by hitting the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of each edition.

2. A combined Twitter feed

ANDS, Nectar and RDS will be combining their Twitter feeds from 11 December 2017 into a single account called @ands_nectar_rds. This will reduce duplication of information across the three accounts and allow a broader perspective on research data and research clouds.

Impact on current subscribers

ANDS’ previous @andsdata account will be renamed to @ands_nectar_rds, meaning ANDS subscribers will not have to take any action to remain as followers. The @andsdata username will become an inactive parked account. Therefore any mentions or messages should now be directed to the new @ands_nectar_rds account.

Followers of Nectar and RDS Twitter feeds will need to follow the new @ands_nectar_rds account to keep up to date with the latest news and events.

The previous Nectar and RDS Twitter accounts will become dormant – however will provide several reminders to existing followers that they should instead follow the new @ands_nectar_rds feed.

3. Websites will remain the same

There are no plans to combine the three organisations existing websites. However, work is already underway to create a joint web space (in addition to the three websites) to host joint project activity and other information. More details will be publicised about this in early 2018.
